Disclaimer:
This cruise is a closed-loop cruise that departs from and returns to the same U.S. port, which allows U.S. citizens to travel with alternative documentation instead of a passport book. Please ensure that you and all members of your party have the proper documentation required for boarding.
For this sailing, you must present:
- A U.S. passport book OR a U.S. passport card OR an original or certified copy of your U.S. birth certificate AND
- A valid, government-issued photo ID (e.g., a REAL ID-compliant driver's license). AGE 16 AND OLDER
The legal name (first and last) and birth date on your travel documentation (passport book OR passport card OR original or certified copy of your U.S. birth certificate) must match exactly the first and last names on your valid, government -issued photo ID. The legal name (first and last names) and birth date must also match with the name and birth date that is listed on your cruise reservation. In case of a name discrepancy due to marriage, also bring along a a certified or original copy of your marriage certificate.
It is critical to understand the potential risks of traveling without a passport book:
- Emergency air travel is not possible: In the event of an emergency, such as a medical issue or family crisis, you cannot fly home from a foreign port with just a birth certificate or passport card. A full passport book is required for all international air travel.
- Getting stranded: If you miss the ship in a foreign port, you will be responsible for your expenses and for obtaining an emergency passport from the nearest U.S. embassy to return home.
- Responsibility for documentation: You are solely responsible for obtaining and presenting the correct documents. Failure to do so will result in denied boarding, and no refund will be provided.
While a passport book is not mandatory for this cruise, we highly recommend traveling with one for peace of mind and protection in case of an unforeseen emergency.
By proceeding with this booking, you acknowledge these risks and confirm that you have the proper documentation. Please let us know if you have any further questions.

About the Carnival Cruise Line Carnival Sunshine
If you've ever caught a sunrise or sunset at sea, you know that they're the most beautiful kind. The sun has set on Carnival Destiny, a legendary, record-setting ship from the day she debuted. The end? Nope — Carnival has transformed this ship into something that shines even brighter. Meet the incredible light of a brand-new dawn, Carnival Sunshine. Everything the sunlight touches on Carnival Sunshine has been doused with an extra dose of fun, and there's plenty atop this ship, where you can spend your days being kissed by the warm rays of the sun. There's the biggest Serenity area ever, featuring three decks, plenty of recliners, and even a waterfall. Carnival WaterWorks, the onboard water park, packs both favourites and awesome new slides, like the slick Speedway Splash. There's also SportSquare, where you can let your inner champion run free (around the jogging track), traverse SkyCourse high up above, or even engage in a little one-on-one, from ping pong to foosball to giant chess. Step out of the sun and try out some shade (and it's some pretty cool shade, at that). The first thing you'll see is the Sunshine Atrium, let's just say first impressions count. From there, check out dining options like Guy's Burger Joint, BlueIguana Cantina, Fahrenheit 555 Steakhouse and new choice Ji Ji Asian Kitchen. All the latest Carnival bars are here: RedFrog Pub, BlueIguana Tequila Bar, EA SPORTS Bar and Alchemy Bar as well as the already-classic Havana Bar! You'll enjoy musical revues up on stage from Playlist Productions, while Hasbro, The Game Show gets cruisers like you up on stage, competing in larger-than-life family favourites come to life.
